YOHJI YAMAMOTO

Pour Homme Dainese Skull Moto Jacket

AW2004

DESCRIPTION

The highlight of Yohji's 2004 Autumn Winter Menswear show was the collaboration with Dianese leathers. This collaboration is different from most because it extended from both the Pour Homme line to his Y's collection. Leather racing jackets that featured the classic Y's monogram were debuted on his division line, wheras the YYPH pieces featured either classic cut blazers or more embellished racing jackets often featuring plays on the brands name such as Yohji Riders or YamaMOTO.

COVERAGE

During the beginning of Yohji Yamamoto’s career, he proposed a new vision for fashion that existed outside of all the glitz and glamour that dominated the conversation. He pushed past the medium’s limitations, as he focused on cutting silhouettes without any regard to the shape of the body, but rather how the garment draped on the body. This way of working with proportions first became the start of his contribution to the “anti-fashion” movement and characterized him.
