YOHJI YAMAMOTO

Dainese Skull Moto Racer Jacket
AW2004

DESCRIPTION

The highlight of Yohji's 2004 Autumn Winter Menswear show was the collaboration with Dianese leathers. This collaboration is different from most because it extended from both the Pour Homme line to his Y's collection. Leather racing jackets that featured the classic Y's monogram were debuted on his division line, wheras the YYPH pieces featured either classic cut blazers or more embellished racing jackets often featuring plays on the brands name such as Yohji Riders or YamaMOTO.

COVERAGE

Both of Yohji Yamamoto AW2004 menswear collections, Y's for men and Pour Homme, are highly regarded amongst collectors of the renowned brand, however not much is spoken about in terms of the actual runway show. Most of the menswear pieces in the show follow a similar motif to his previous collections - all black gaba - however buckles and zippers were added ato a few of his more traditional pieces to give it more of a modern feel. Yohji's ethos of functional embellishment is exemplified in this collection, for the zippers and buckles change the silhouettes when sinched or unzipped.
