AUTUMN/WINTER 2005

Season Coverage

Raf Simons’ “History of My World” incited a deviation from the streetwear-oriented collections that Simons had presented previously. Focusing mostly on tailoring the traditional men’s silhouette, he presented a new tailored look that included baggier trousers, cropped jackets and tight, jacquard knits. Still inherently streetwear based and militaristic, the collection was taken to be a much more futuristic approach to his design process. Iconic pieces include the “Poltergeist” pieces, which were not actually featured on the runway, but included several crewneck sweaters and fishtail parkas with the familiar Raf Simons’ patchwork designs. Most of the imagery drew inspiration from the 1982 movie “Poltergeist” and the 1979 French horror film “Fascination”.
