Julius delved deep into his past for his Spring / Summer 2012 collection and defined his dystopian industrial language, inspired by Tokyo’s underground club circuit. Rugged aggression, androgyny, and claustrophobia were tangible on the catwalk. Models carefully walked down the narrow pathway looking like disheveled rocker-chic characters from a long lost Katsuhiro Otomo manga. Unconventionally cut silhouettes constructed from luxurious leather constrained these models, which displayed a level of wisdom Julius had gained from his years of trial and error in leatherwork. His militaristic accouterment was perfected during this collection, as illustrated by the updated iterations of his iconoclastic combat boots and “gas-mask” cargos.
