ISSEY MIYAKE
Parachute Cargo MA-1 Bomber
DESCRIPTION
This fan-titled “Cargo Flight Jacket” that hailed from this collection is arguably the most sought after piece not only from this season, but the Japanese designer’s oeuvre at large. Miyake referenced the semblance of a western military issue MA-1 bomber jacket, however he expanded the silhouette to have a boxier drape and embellished the garment with a series of infamous modular pockets.

COVERAGE
Over the years, Issey Miyake established himself as a designer who managed to perfectly execute the technology-meets-elegance aesthetic in his works, with every show ending up intriguingly diverse, yet sharing a part in common. For the 1996 Autumn/Winter collection Miyake combined everyday clothing with his signature sewing techniques and a dazzling color palette: everything from washed corduroy work jackets, quilted puffer topcoats and metallic trenches to comfortable knitted cardigans, colorblocked sweaters and pleated evening wear was presented on the runway leaving the show's guests in awe.
