AUTUMN/WINTER 2004
Season Coverage
For this season, Helmut Lang brought forth his signature austere chic look coupled with Haute luxury. He weaved in subtle complexities to classic shapes, asymmetrical cuts, layered fabrics, alternating textures, and additional textures and dimensions. There was an element of raw fetishism, where we see mummy pants and knee strap denim. Lang also drew inspirations from his European roots, with dresses inspired by Austrian waitresses, pleated organzas on evening gowns paying homage to Hungarian folk costumes, cream coats stemming from those worn by Hungarian shepherds.
