AUTUMN/WINTER 1998

Season Coverage

Over the years, Helmut Lang's earlier collections have resonated and influenced the fashion world the most. Notably, 1998 was a very significant year for Helmut Lang. Helmut Lang showcased his infamous paint splatter jeans during the spring collection, denim two pieces, mesh tops, and bulletproof vests. Amongst these timeless pieces, which have not ceased to inspire fashion, were distinctly minimal and sharp silhouettes of precisely tailored trousers, blazers, and jackets. These silhouettes and outlook on fashion have become more relevant, with more brands focusing on tailoring suits and jackets. Persisting throughout the year, Helmut Lang presented his Fall collection, revealing a series of military-inspired Parkas with bag straps allowing the coat to be worn. Paired with the coats, Helmut Lang followed his last collection's precise tailoring and introduced new colors to maintain the brands' refined minimalism. Moreover, the designer released peculiar knits, tops, and jeans.

Following his outstanding collections in 1998, Helmut Lang introduced himself as a futuristic and boundary-breaking fashion brand through its designs and embracement of the Internet and digital era in 1998.
