DESCRIPTION

The Navigate Boot is considered the magnum opus of Slimane’s reign at Dior. The boot saw four material iterations - patent leather, pebbled leather, suede, and smooth leather. The boot emulates a modern silhouette, with a thick leather body and slimming boot shaft positioned upon a thick crepe sole.

CONDITION

Good condition. Creasing in the toe region and shaft, marks on the suede, beautiful reddish hue appearing naturally on the laces. Please see photos for full evaluation.

Created during the last season of his 7 year tenure at Dior, Hedi Slimane drew immense inspiration from both rock music and pop culture to create this signature silhouette. Hedi turned childhood bullying into a lasting impact: Hedi's signature skinny silhouette stems from the bullying and homophobia he experienced as a teen. "Many in high school, or in my family, were attempting to make me feel I was half a man because I was lean," Slimane said. "I would turn to my music heroes, and this was comforting. They looked the same and I wanted to do everything to be like them, and not hide myself in baggy clothes to avoid negative comments.” Dior Homme embodied a beautiful exchange between contemporary music and menswear fashion under the watchful eye of Slimane - he commissioned original songs for runway shows from Beck, the Rakes and Phoenix.
