Rei Kawakubo founded her anti-fashion label powerhouse, Comme Des Garçons, in 1973. Rei, along with a few select others, drove Japanese avant-garde fashion and heavily influenced the rest of the world which resulted in Tokyo to be considered as a fashion capital. Comme Des Garcons Homme is the first diffusion label as well as the menswear line to come into the Comme universe. Established in 1978, CdGH challenges conventional menswear with exaggerated silhouettes and styles while still operating under the ethos of "Good Sense, Good Quality."
