AUTUMN/WINTER 2018

Season Coverage

For Autumn/Winter 2018, Takahiro Miyashita, alongside his long-time friend and partner Jun Takahashi, chose to explore the spine-chilling world of a dystopian future filled with menacing AI and advanced technology. While Takahashi's collection was reference-wise rich, Miyashita's did not include any apparent cultural allusions. Instead, it was something more personal for the designer. In itself, the collection combined state-of-the-art techwear with fine tailoring — clothing that one could call utilitarian. Each look, presented to an ominous Trent Reznor soundtrack, was composed of a traditional base with utility detailing, which came in the shape of additional pockets, straps, zippers, quilted collar hoods, and face masks. The mixture of past's allure and future's innovation is what Takahiro Miyashita manages to deliver seasonally through "The Soloist." — the project that is undeniably a new chapter in his career.
