After a two year hiatus of presenting runway shows, Jun Takahashi of Undercover set to make a theatrical comeback through the AW13 collection ‘Anatomicouture.’ As suggested by its title, the collection sought to incorporate a visual representation of human anatomy through the medium of clothing, arguably succeeding in its execution. More apparent portrayals of this included graphics of ribcages, intestines, and hearts; however, the pure genius of the collection was laid in the intricate construction of the runway pieces. From heels that depicted ribcages enwrapping its wearers’ calves, scuffled dresses that resembled intestines, and deconstructed clothing that depicted the visual horrors of the human anatomy, ‘Anatomicouture’ both horrified and mystified its audience simultaneously.
