This particular vest was made in collaboration with the esoteric Japanese retailer “Mid West” in 2009. A set of tastefully implanted “Gas Mask” pockets embellish the base of the silhouette. Aside from this key detail; this piece also features a gunmetal zip closure, signature military snap-button latches, and an intricately paneled construction.

Horikawa’s interest with militaristic accoutrement lead to the creation of the designer’s most iconic motif – a set of exaggerated kangaroo pockets deemed the “Gas Mask.” The first iteration of the design was released in 2005 during his august / winter mens collection. What began as a simple mirrored adornment on cargo pants has since been reimagined several times, embellishing a wide range of different silhouettes. .
